KOD, chapter #144 of Romance Writers of America®, was formed by writers world-wide to promote and support the reading and writing of suspense and mystery fiction with strong romantic elements (woman's suspense, woman-in-jeopardy, romantic suspense, & Gothic). Though this popular sub-genre of romance fiction has enjoyed a sustained readership for decades, and despite the popularity of writers such as Nora Roberts and Sandra Brown, it continues to be under-promoted in the industry and hard to find on the shelves of bookstores. To redress the visibility problem, this chapter was created and this website was launched to provide a gathering place for readers and writers of romantic mystery/suspense fiction.
